Priv – Media Vault ("the app") is designed so that your data never leaves your device. This policy explains, in plain terms, what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
- We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data.
- There is no account, no sign‑in, and no cloud.
- There are no analytics, no advertising, and no third‑party trackers or SDKs.
- Your photos, videos, documents, and their names and tags are stored only on your device, encrypted, in the app's private storage.
Information we collect
None. The app has no servers and makes no network connection to us. It does not read your contacts, location, browsing history, or device identifiers, and it contains no analytics or crash‑reporting services.
The files you add
When you add a file, the app creates an encrypted copy (an ".xms" container) in its own private storage using AES‑256‑GCM, with a key derived from the vault password that only you know. The app cannot read your files without that password, and neither can we — we never receive it or your files.
- Your vault password is never stored; it is used only to derive the encryption key in memory, and is forgotten when the app is locked or closed.
- An optional recovery key is generated on your device and shown to you once. It is sealed locally so it can restore your password if you forget it. We never see or store it and cannot reset it for you.
- Backups you create are single encrypted files that you choose where to save (for example to Files or iCloud Drive). What happens to a backup after you export it is governed by wherever you store it.
Permissions the app may request
- Photos / Files access — only so you can pick media to protect. The app reads the files you select; it does not upload or index your library.
- Face ID / Touch ID / device passcode — used locally to lock and unlock the app. Biometric data never leaves the device and is handled entirely by the operating system; the app only receives a success/failure result.
- Camera / microphone — not used.
Sharing
Sharing is always initiated by you. When you use the share feature, the operating system's share sheet hands the file to whatever app or destination you pick. We are not involved and receive nothing.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
Data retention and deletion
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. You control all data on your device: delete any item or the entire library from within the app, and uninstalling the app removes all of its stored data.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this URL.
